Project Fingertips

After many years of playing music together, Shaun Motiani and Chiahu Lee founded the Fingertips Piano Duo in 2012 as a means to both share their passion and love for music as well as to create opportunities to help those in need through the performing arts. In November 2012, their debut concert marked the first step towards the implementation of this dream: in collaboration with Caritas Luxembourg, they managed to raise a sum of 5150€ for the Foyer St. Antoine, a home for asylum-seekers.

During the planning of their second charity concert, Fingertips Duo decided to not rely on the help of an established organisation, but to instead attempt to do all the work theirselves. This allowed them to have more independence and freedom in pursuing their artistic vision, which involved the design of every detail in the planning of the event. Believing that they really want to make a difference in the world and that they could make an impact with their initiative, they decided that the cause of their project would focus on the education of children. It was also at this point that they chose to officially give their project the name ‘Project Fingertips’. Thanks to this second charity concert, which took place in May 2014, they managed to raise 3606€ for the building of a school dedicated to young, underprivileged girls in Rajasthan, India. With the funding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the total amount was 10577.01 €

In January 2013, Fingertips Duo was awarded the RNCM Duo Prize and was given the opportunity to take part in the RNCM Ludwig Van Festival in March, as well as the John McCabe Festival in February and the RNCM Monday Lunchtime Recital series in March 2014. The duo was also finalist at the RNCM Schubert Prize in July 2014.

Fingertips ASBL (since 2014 officially registered as a non-profit organisation) has raised over 26000 Euros so far.
